New Southgate
New Southgate is a residential suburb in the south-east corner of the London Borough of Barnet. The area is served by New Southgate railway station and Arnos Grove tube station. The name New Southgate was adopted in the mid-19th century, probably shortly after the opening of both the railway station. New Southgate was home to Jerome K Jerome, writer of “Three Men in a Boat”. He is commemorated here with a statue of a boat on the New Southgate Millennium Green on Station Road.
